Dependents on the estate, of a worker who passed on or after 24 October 2007 as a result of a workplace injury that happened on or after 30 June 1987 are entitled to receive:

  • A lump sum
  • Weekly payments for each dependent child
  • Reasonable funeral expenses.

In cases where the worker died before 24 October 2007, due to a workplace injury that occurred on or after 30 June 1987, their dependents are entitled to

  • The lump sum payment applicable at the date of death
  • Weekly payments to any children who were dependent on the worker.
  • Reasonable funeral expenses.

What if the injury occurred before then?

Should a worker pass from the results of an injury or injuries that occurred before 30 June 1987, their families are still entitled to some benefits. They are

  • A lump sum
  • Weekly payments for any dependent children.
